Pangalusian Island

Right after having a sumptuous lunch at Snake Island, we immediately board the boat  to continue on with our island hopping trip. Snorkeling was the next activity on our jam-pack itinerary and before long we reached the water vicinity of Pangalusian Island, a mere 50 or so yards away from the beach.

Pangalusian Island has one of the widest stretch of powdery white sand beaches in El Nido. It is one of the fave spots for sun bathing and watching the dreamy sunset. Snorkeling is also a major thing to do here because of the coral gardens fronting the beach.

Kuya Roel told us that Pangalusian Island was recently bought by foreigners and public docking here were no longer allowed. Like Lagen and Miniloc, soon there will rise another high-end resort on this part of El Nido. Silhouettes of luxurious cabanas and cottages were already visible and it wouldn’t be long until the resort will be complete.

As soon as we reached the snorkeling site, Jeff jumped into the water with only his flippers and goggles on while the rest of us donned our life vests.

The water turned out to be a bit blurry because of the crazy waves but despite the cloudy view it was still fun playing with the fishes. It was fun feeding them and watching how they scurry about catching the left-over rice we threw in their direction. Continue reading “EL NIDO | Pangalusian Island and Secret Lagoon Beach” »

2011 has been an awesome year for me. It was a year of thrills and great adventure, a year of many firsts. This year I experienced my first out of Luzon trip, first snorkeling, zip lining, rock climbing, spelunking adventures, first time in Solo Backpacking, first time in volunteering and child sponsorship, so forth and so on.

It has been a crazy yet fulfilling year of learning through new experiences, getting out of the bubble that was my comfort zone, meeting lovely new friends along the way, collecting treasured memories and ultimately traveling to those destinations I only dreamed about before. For these reasons I will always be thankful to God for giving me a wonderful 2011.

So before we put an end to this year’s chapter, I would like to share with you some of my best travel experiences for this year.

1. Puerto Princesa, Palawan
Travel Date:  March 11-14, 2011

Jump, jump, jump at Pandan Island, Honda Bay, Palawan

Our family trip to the “Greenest city in the Philippines” last March is one of the highlights of my 2011. It was my first trip in more than two years since I’ve been entirely pre-occupied by my work & hospital duties and this trip was a form of personal reward for a year of isolation and sleepless nights. ” To the dull mind nature is leaden;
To the illumined mind the whole world burns and sparkles with light. “

—Ralph Waldo Emerson

This is the second installment for our El Nido Island hopping tour series.

After featuring Pinagbuyutan Island and Pinasil Island a.k.a Cathedral Cave in my earlier post, this time I will be sharing our experiences in the next two places we visited which was Cudugnon Cave and Vigan Island / Snake Island.

Cudugnon Point

Our third stop was yet another cave but unlike the first one we actually manage to explore it this time. Because there were 3 boats docked on the island when we arrived we had to wait in the shade for 10 minutes to give way for other tourists to explore the cave first.

When our turn came, we only had to walked a few steps away from the beach before we get to the little hole that was the cave’s entrance. The opening proved to be a bit of a challenge for us. A little bending, docking and crawling passed by  until we found ourselves safely inside the confines of the cave. A large, magnificent cavern with an elevated ceiling greeted us and made our eyes widen in awe. Continue reading “EL NIDO | Cudugnon Cave and Snake Island” »
