Sagada is one of the favorite destinations in the Philippines and for very good reasons. Laid-back atmosphere, cool weather, breathtaking scenery, friendly locals and an interesting culture all intertwine into making this place ideal for relaxation and soul-searching. Blessed with a rich and diverse natural wonders, Sagada also offers a wide array of things to do and places to explore.

Kind and friendly faces welcomes our group as we stepped out of the service van one by one. Like that of a greeting meant for a balikbayan, the welcoming committee acknowledge our presence with warmth and enthusiasm. After a whirlwind of handshakes, good afternoons and polite bows, Ms. Celine the marketing manager led us to a posh lobby.
It was 12 in the afternoon and we just arrived at Taal Vista Hotel, the largest Heritage hotel in Tagaytay.

The warmly lit lobby was crawling with elegantly clad guests when we entered. It turns out that two events, a wedding and a seminar, were scheduled to happen that afternoon explaining the crowd. From that first impression, it wasn’t hard to gather that Taal Vista is a crowd favorite. Well, I wouldn’t blame them for I became a fan myself. En route to Sagada..
It isn’t a good idea, to wear shorts when travelling to Baguio or Sagada during the freezing month of February.
That was the first lesson we learned as our group hobbled towards the waiting taxi that later brought us to the terminal for buses going to Sagada. It was 5 AM and we just spent the last six hours journeying through the night from the busy streets of Manila to the still slumbering town of Baguio.

To say that we were not ready for the cold was an understatement. In fact, we couldn’t help but to shiver as the morning breeze welcomed us in its icy embrace, making our hands and our bare legs almost numb with the cold. A hot breakfast, consisting mostly of noodles, became our saving grace and helped warm our bodies from the biting cold. Continue reading “En route to Sagada..” »
